TFL.org, Time with Sister, Enjoying Time Off

June 18th 2003

Wow, I just recently offered my time to The Fanlistings Network, and already I’ve been asked to take over one of their categories. More specifically, I am told I received a lot of positive comments from the tfl.org staff.

[insert blush here]

So yes, if everything goes right, I will be the proud spanking new tfl.org staff member. Not gonna tell you which category I’ll be in charge of yet though. I don’t want to jinx anything :P
What have I been up to recently. Well, as of Monday I pick my sister up from daycare everyday except Wednesdays, so now I get to see her a lot :) Took her to McDonalds last night and made sure the check-out clerk gave me an extra Finding Nemo toy. I swear I’m becoming obsessed with the movie. The good thing is, I can bring her home anytime I want to so now maybe I won’t feel like I’m missing out on my sister growing up.

I haven’t heard about any trouble from my mother as of late either……perhaps she’s actually behaving?

Job search = 0 results unfortunately. But I’m staying as hopeful as I can be under the circumstances. This weekend unemployment will be calling me for an interview to see if I qualify, but knowing the record of my past employers, I’ll be turned down flat, and the downward spiral will continue.

I can’t say that I haven’t enjoyed my time off though. Enjoying the smell of honeysuckle, watching chipmunks fill their cheeks with birdseed and then running off into the bushes, pretending like no one saw them. Watching My Son bark endlessly at a harmless black snake in my garden. Teaching My Son how to sleep in a hammock (ever watch a dog try to climb in one of those?), and other such things I was too tired to concern myself with when I was working fulltime. If only I could work from home. I actually thought about trying to write a book or starting a daycare, but not anytime soon.

Fanlistings

June 15th 2003

I moved all my fanlistings to the bottom of the left column for now, until I put up a new layout. I installed the ever popular Flinx code to organize them so now you can find them all here. New layout commencing.

Sprained knee, Finding Nemo

June 14th 2003

I just did a stupid thing and sprained my knee last night. Huzzah. But I did get to see “Finding Nemo” where Coryn and myself almost laughed ourselves out of the theatre when the blue fish tries talking to the whale. If you go to the site (and enter it) and then click on FIND THE FISH, and scroll through till you find the blue fish, it shows part of the scene where she’s talking to the whale.

Too funny.

Got a call from an insurance company about my resume, not that I’m all that thrilled about working at an insurance company, it’s at least worth a shot.

Friday Five

1. What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to do, but never have?

I want to read and absorb every book I own for once. I want to hold a good steady job, I want to visit Ex #4 for a week

2. When someone asks your opinion about a new haircut/outfit/etc, are you always honest?

I’ll be honest, but kind and sincere at the same time.

3. Have you ever found out something about a friend and then wished you hadn’t? What happened?

I found out something about someone very close to me, back in 01. I think it brought us closer together, but at the same time, made me realize what they are capable of.

4. If you could live in any fictional world (from a book/movie/game/etc.) which would it be and why?

Oh goodness, that’s a good question. I’d want to live in the Shire for sure, but at the same time, after seeing “Finding Nemo,” I have this strong desire to live in an underwater world.

5. What’s one talent/skill you don’t have but always wanted?

I want to sew some of my own clothes, I want to know everything I need to know, so that I don’t have to go to the grocery store except for toilet paper.

Address Bar Icon

June 11th 2003

When you look up at your address bar at the top of your browser, you see the little icon next to the URL? I want to know how to change that little icon. Livejournal does it, I know several other sites that do it, but I can’t find the script for it. Anyone know?

On the bright side of

June 8th 2003

On the bright side of things, I like not having to wake up early and staying up as late as I want. I also like having time to myself where I can clean, actually take herbal baths (I have this goats milk and honey soap that is *purr*), and take walks in the woods. I’ve been playing guitar a lot, cleaning out some negative energy with my djembe, and working on my MUD a lot, so I’m actually somewhat content. I’ve been looking around for another job but there doesn’t seem to be much around unfortunately. My father eats breakfast sometimes with a guy who owns a 24 hour clinic here in Westminster, so hopefully he can talk to him about giving me a job. I spoke with “Ex #1″ too and told him he may have to help me out a bit financially and he said he would, so hopefully things will be -okay-.

My dad found out that his health insurance is going to cost him over $400 a month though, because apparently he makes ‘too much’ on disability. How nice.

I watch Lord of the Rings sometimes to get inspiration for my MUD, and I’m falling in love with the Shire. How much I envy having that kind of life. It’s such a down to earth way of life. Maybe one day that Pagan Commune that Sarah and I dream about will come true.

I’ll probably do a lot of site updates too while I have this time off.

Breaking out of the Habit of Christmas

I’ve been giving a lot of thought to additional ways to save money and work on my Personal Finance Management (PFM) lately. One of the topics that keeps rolling around in my skull is the topic of Christmas/Yule/etc.
2007 was the first year I created a Christmas Fund. It was a lifesaver when the […]
