Buttons
February 28th 2004
I’d like to have some buttons, transparent buttons preferably. I can’t do transparencies myself and am very limited on the small text affects I can do, and my button options for the domain are kinda slim. So if anyone feels in a creative mood and wants to make me some buttons, here are some ideas:
- Green, naturey stuff
- Callisto/Xena related
- Acoustic Guitars galore
I don’t expect any, but I thought I’d try lol.

Oh Vinnie, how could you?
February 27th 2004
So this rather gorgeous guitar player named Vinnie was supposed to come over today to play guitar. He apparently had/has a band, lived in Chicago for a while, and has access to a recording studio. But he took a little longer than expected with his other errands today, so it didn’t happen :(. But perhaps Monday…he plans to do some recording at the studio, and maybe I can tag along.
I left a note for the Office Manager at work to give me a call with what hours I’m supposed to be working, and how much I’m getting paid. Still no word though. Quite frankly I’m annoyed, it’s been almost a week, they should be able to give me at least some idea.
The overnight tech tonight tried to call out, and they were going to call me in. I was preparing for it, but apparently the tech is afraid of losing her job, so I think she may go in anyway.
I’m just not comfortable with the limbo state I am in right now. I might start looking for some other jobs, because who knows what’s going to happen with this one.
It’s nice to have a few days off though..

The Environment
February 23rd 2004
The world is going to end
Can I just comment briefly on how fucking stupid the world is? Only our species can cause so much damage to destroy and entire planet. Only we can elect leaders that are willing to destroy our way of life for a few millions dollars. Only humans can ignore very simple and logistical ways to help improve our environment. Oh I am soooo proud.
Bush is skeptical about global warming. Has Texas just fried his brain to the point where he can’t take a look at pictures of glaciers from the 1920’s, and compare them with the same glaciers today and not see that they are virtually 80% gone? Or is he too stupid to realize that ice melts due to HEAT?
Oh and lets talk about the logging industry. Because I LOVE THEM (sarcasm). I heard a story once, I don’t know if it’s true or not, that Marijuanna was originally made illegal because of the gross amount of environmental benefits, such as virtually replacing the logging industry with hemp paper. The very rich and very influencial logging industries wouldn’t have it. Again, just something I heard, but I wouldn’t be surprised. Comparing Marijuanna to Alcohol, it just doesn’t make sense that alcohol isn’t illegal as well.
Tree Free Greeting cards, uses paper made from the Kenaf plant found in Africa. Not does it grow faster than trees, but is probably cheaper to harvest, and is such a step forward in helping to save our environment and our trees, so that trees can help clean our already polluted air.
Every day the majority of people in the world, and yes I have been guilty of this too (but at least I’m trying to make a difference), are using harmful cleaning products on their bodies, on their tables, their floors, and then flushing them down the drain, to eventually be spewed into the ocean. Websites like Care2, give plenty of alternatives for virtually anything, from cleaning products, to toothpaste, shampoo, etc.
But do people care about this? No. Put it in the back of your mind, pretend it isn’t happening. Why should you care? You’re going to die in another 60 years or so. Our children will probably be the same way. And the ‘tree huggers’ will still get picked on for being too ‘worried’ about the environment. And the people who are too lazy to take their trash home instead of throwing it out the car window, or think it’s ‘uncool’ to support the environmentalists, can just bite my ass.
It’s more about power, less about survival.
SO THAT’S MY RANT FOR TODAY.

First day of training — A recap
February 21st 2004
Since I know you’re all just dyyyyying to know how my first day of training went (insert sarcasm). It was okay, I’ve realized I’m not that interested in being a full-time tech. However since I’ll be doing overnight, it won’t be so hectic. My feet hurt a little, from not being used to standing a lot from being unemployed for so long. A few dogs didn’t really want to hold still when doing their exams, one dog decided to spill all his food and water when I fed him so I said fuck it.
I’m glad to be learning the basics, as long as they aren’t a frequent thing. X-ray’s were difficult, blood machine was a bit confusing. Computers were easy. Hopefully they can move me into a receptionist slot fairly soon. But I haven’t really seen what it’s like overnight yet. It’s supposed to be quiet.
So I didn’t fuck up (yet), I knew everyone there already for the most part, and knew where everything was. Just trying to learn about medicine and procedures and having to do some nasty stuff.
Still no idea when I officially start or how much I get paid…..

Friday Five
February 21st 2004
When was the last time you…
1. …went to the doctor?
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeh…..Probably since hrm, 1996? I never go when I’m sick, I have a very kickass immune system and can usually bust some flu ass. Last time I went was to find out why I don’t menstrate (which I still don’t). So yeah. I think I have health insurance through “Ex #1″…..not sure. Soon I’ll have my own.
2. …went to the dentist?
Uh, I was still living with my mom. Don’t know if I have dental, never really had a need to go. Even with my wisdom teeth coming in, they just don’t hurt
3. …filled your gas tank?
About half an hour ago, on the way home from work. (Man I love saying that…)
4. …got enough sleep?
Surprisingly enough, I can live off of very little sleep. I don’t know when I really got -enough- sleep. I usually go to bed around 2/3am, and wake up around 9/10am.
5. …backed up your computer?
I actually do this weekly, possibly even more often, depending on if I just did a bunch of fanlistings or a big update/change on something, like a new layout. Same goes for all my websites and mySQL databases.

Start training tonight
February 21st 2004
I’ll be leaving here in about an hour and half to start my training. I’m REALLY nervous right now, but oh well. I’m sure it won’t be as bad as I’m imagining.. At least I won’t have to deal with appointments. If they ask me to stay a little late, I probably will, just to pick up on a few overnight things.
Wish me luck :\
