My day off

May 17th 2004

My day off:

Sleep is a rarity for me lately, so, although I missed the morning sun, I slept until 12:30. It felt nice to not have to wake-up to the sound of a blaring alarm clock. I actually hate waking up to them, they scare me. Sometimes my body tends to wake me up ahead of the alarm clock to prevent that from happening.

I did some web work that has been backing up. It feels good to accomplish a few things, I just wish I didn’t have so much to accomplish.

It was very sunny today, but while the sun was bright, the sky was thundering. It’s been a while since we’ve had a thunderstorm, which is disappointing, because I love them.

While I was walking around outside, enjoying the thunderstorm, I noticed a large patch of peppermint chocolate mint that I planted about 2 years ago. It’s grown rather large, and is slowly making it’s way over to another herb patch of mine, which has me worried since mint tends to take over things. But either way, I cultivated a small pile of leaves in the hem of my skirt (yes, I wore a skirt) and enjoyed the cool breeze from the thundering clouds. My Son came up to me every few minutes with a tennis ball, wanting me to throw it. Of course I had to wrestle him for it because he’s too proud to just give it to me.

I also love the warmer weather because I hardly ever wear shoes.

I brought the mint leaves inside and steeped them into some tea for later. I took out some fish from the freezer and put it in the oven to thaw. Then using one of our cast iron skillets, I cooked them with butter, a few pieces of garlic, and some old bay seasoning.

Now I haven’t cooked fish since I was about 16 and living with my mother. But I impressed myself with how damn tasty this fish turned out to be.

It’s been a while since I’ve gone fishing too, which is something I’d like to do with my dad and sister this summer. Unfortunately Steph will be in Germany by then, otherwise I’d take her too. Perhaps Vinnie will go, but he doesn’t really seem the outdoorsy type.

Later on I think I’ll swing with My Son on our porch swing that my dad has fastened to the limb of the big oak out front.

Just a nice lazy day.

Dream: Terminix (blar)

My dad finally put the air conditioner in the window yesterday. No more suffering through this intrepid heat, especially since my room windows face the sun. So I was able to sleep last night, and of course have a dream about TERMINIX.
It was a short-lived one, but Executive Services (the head honcho office […]
