Baby Kittens and Overtime

May 20th 2004

Pretty steady day of work yesterday. Around 9pm we had 3 kittens come in as an emergency. Apparently their mother had been hit by a car, and they were left abandoned, wet, cold and hungry. When they came in they were in pretty bad shape. Their temperature wasn’t even registering on the themometer.

So the Dr., myself, and one of the technicians wrapped them up in warm towels, rubber gloves filled with warm water, and fed them kitten formula while trying to rub them and get their temperature up.

The person that found them apparently went back for a fourth kitten that he thought was dead, but was in fact alive. It was in pretty bad shape but once we started warming it up and trying to get it to eat it seemed to improve a great deal.

They were all in pretty good shape when I left besides being dirty, having lice, and just overall miserable. Hopefully they made it through the night. I believe the Dr. took them home so she could get up every 2 hours to feed them.

I also realized when I clocked out last night, that today when I got to work, it’s allllll overtime. Very nice.

Wow, those poor kittens! I’m glad someone brought them in though, how lucky for them. I hope that they continue to do well.

Anyways, just thought I would say hello from sunny CA. :)
