Pittbull Puppy

May 25th 2004

We had this gorgeous blue pitt puppy come into work today to get an ear cropping. I hate ear croppers.

But I did get some pictures and a video of the puppy. I fell in love with him, I kept going back to play with him.

Ugh. Ear cropping, tail cropping, whatever… I don’t understand why people do that. Painful for the animal, and it usually takes away something that they need, something that’s how it is for a reason. Such a cute little guy! I feel sorry for him. A funny story though… One of the wolves had gotten in a fight with some other wolves through one of the fences (this was before the sanctuary started using fight-wire to prevent that). The other wolves bit her ears pretty badly, so she had to be tranquilized and taken in to the vet to try to sew them back on. Well, the vet couldn’t save her ears, so she had to cut them the rest of the way off and sew her up. This is one of the full wolves, and that vet wasn’t exactly licensed to work on full wolves… And as she was there on the operating table, the state veterinary inspector happened to come through. When the inspector stuck his head in the door the vet was having an “Oh shit!” moment, but then he said, “Oh, when did they start cropping German shepherd ears?” Um. Right. This is a German shepherd. Uh huh…
