Stepping out of the Broom Closet at work

June 3rd 2004

I had been asked the other day about my religion at work by the office managers. I told them then that I didn’t feel comfortable with saying, but decided over lunch yesterday that I really do consider both of them to be friends, not just employers, so I was going to be open with them about it.

I was more paranoid that they wouldn’t think I was actually at a religious campout thing this weekend than anything. I know how they’ve felt about a few other people who have called out for ‘mysterious reasons’ that we’ve later found out not to be true. I told them about my paranoia and they said the thought never crossed their mind, they were just genuinely interested.

So I told them both that I was pagan, made sure to explain that it’s nothing evil, even told them about CedarLight. They were both pretty facinated, asked a lot of questions which I felt very comfortable in answering. I explained to them that I don’t have a problem working the major holidays (not to mention it’s time and a half), as long as I can get my holidays off.

I felt really good about it, they were really open minded and understanding. And everyone else in the damn hospital already knew anyway :P
