My Son has a nail in his paw

July 31st 2004

Well, looks like My Son has a nail in his paw. It’s pretty deep too, and I don’t have the money for a vet bill. And I can’t take him to my old job, obviously.

My friend Jake (who used to vet tech at the old job too) is coming over to help me out. Hopefully the three of us can do this without a muzzle :P I love my child to death but I’m scared of his pitt biting capacity.

Proud to be an American

July 30th 2004

I can’t tell you how proud I am to live in a country that’ll not only barely put my father on disability for about a grand a month, but then not give him any health insurance unless it’s $350 a month, and then raise it $180 so that it’s over $500 a month, and expect him to be able to live on that.

Tarot Reading

July 30th 2004

After reading Daisyhead’s site, I decided to try out this online Tarot reading thing. I think I’ll keep what I asked to myself. Not claiming this is accurate or anything, but hell, why not.

Actually the best tarot reading I ever got, was when I worked at the Rock and Gem shop. There was an older lady that came in on Saturday’s to do tarot readings. She looked extremely normal, didn’t dress up in gaudy jewelry or try to look mysterious or whimsical. She looked like someone you’d pass in the grocery store, trying to squeeze tomato’s to make sure they’re good and juicy. She was taught by a gypsy, 40 some years ago.

I had asked her about my ex-husband, mostly. I never told her his name. She pulled a card with a man on it carrying a globe (I forget which one this is). She said he was a traveler, often for months at a time. She called this the Alexander card. And at the time he was still in the Navy, and overseas. She also spoke about the mistrust that was in our relationship, how I had a new love interest, which I did. She was just extremely detailed and accurate in her reading.

Anyway, onto this online reading thing:

Work

July 27th 2004

So lets talk about how much I love my job.

Today, the Regional Office decided to make it an Employee Appreciation Day. So our bosses went out and bought all sorts of food, even balloons, to celebrate.

Lets talk about the food. Huge London Broiled Steaks, brats, hotdogs, nachos, cake, you name it.

Door prizes, one of which included smashing whipped cream pies on both managers.

And I got paid during it all.

I actually have pictures and videos of the day, so if you’re interested.

Aohell

July 23rd 2004

I appreciate you giving me all of these free months of AOL service and all of these new tantalizing deals and promotions to keep me as a customer. But I just DON’T USE THE SERVICE. I haven’t in years.

You gave me 2 free months, reduced the price by almost half, and I waited to see if by some chance I might want to use it again. But 2 months went by, and the program isn’t even installed on my computer anymore.

I call again to cancel, which results in another free month, and $50 if I refer someone. I don’t quite understand why you asked if I have refered people, and after I answer yes, you THEN offer me the $50 deal. Wouldn’t it be obvious that I’ve already refered everyone!?

I can’t understand you, as much as I love accents, for the love of all that is sacred please try to hire people that can speak clear enough english that I actually understand what they are saying. Especially for customer service and technical support positions. Sometimes I wonder if it’s some sort of ploy to not allow us to cancel our accounts.

In the end, I have been reduce from $23 to $4 per month to keep my current screen name. Without the account, I would lose my wonderful screen name, which is something I don’t want to deal with right now.

I’ve been a customer of AOL for 8 years (I don’t even want to add that up). And it looks like I’ll be a customer for a while longer. Just for this silly screen name.

Edit 02/21/07: The card used to pay for AOL was cancelled ages ago (probably 2 years now), so they were forced to cancel my account. I still use the same screen name, and was never prompted to sign back up or that I would lose it.

New Training

July 20th 2004

So today was my first day of the classes I’ll be taking for work the rest of the week. A lot quicker drive then when I was driving to the capital, and more entertaining, to a point.

These classes are basic company information that I’ll need to know, not that actual position information that I was being trained for last week. We had two tests, both of which I aced with no problem, and they provided breakfast and lunch. I got out at 3pm, while still being paid for a full day of work.

Quite nice.

The material we are leaning is pretty common sense, not to mention he went over it before the test, but for some reason some people still seemed to struggle with it.

I enjoyed talking with some of the other new employee’s being trained. They were from all over Maryland, and some from Northern Virginia. One guy was from Persia, and talking about how he was a chef and his favorite dishes he liked to cook (I love Persia). Another gentleman was from Ethiopia, and I loved listening to him talk about his country. Looking forward to classes the rest of this week. It’s nice to break up the monotonous work :)
My dad had his brother and another guy over yesterday to kill rabbits. We raise rabbits, not just for pets, but also as a source for food. Once a year we take a few and freeze them (after we kill them of course) for winter. My uncle is also a taxidermist so I should get a few rabbit pelts out of it too (I’ve been wanting to make a satchel decorated with rabbit fur).

Overall things are going quite swell. I’m slowly catching up on some bills, at which point I will actually be able to save up money for the first time in I don’t know how long. It feels good to finally feel like I’m putting pieces of my life back together. I only hope soon I’ll finally feel complete.

Violence in Paganism

This article on Witches Voice goes into a lot of the “warrior” aspect of paganism. Well, mostly it’s about how the author, who is a martial artist, has met a lot of resistance in the pagan community due to his interest in what they consider “violence.”
I can’t say I’ve run across any of […]
