4th of July

July 5th 2004

Some creature decided to bite me approximately 11 times on my shin. Possibly a spider, not sure. It’s red, it’s hot, it hurts, and it’s infected. But a good dose of Sati’s gunk concoction is making it feel a lot better. (It’s what..petrolium mixed with parafin? rosemary, lavender, aloe, and something else I think).

Didn’t really do much this weekend but relaxed and catch up on some web work, did some cleaning.

Yesterday I went with Sati down to the Grove for the day. Enjoyed relaxing there, eating fresh fruits (and sneaking a piece of German Chocolate cake). We’ve been starting this Teen Mentoring program at the Grove, more or less if an adult has a skill or knowledge they’d be willing to share, we match them up with a teen that might be interested.

Naturally I volunteered music (and web design) and have been teaching some basic guitar to Wendy, who is about what, 15, and one of the two that Sati is a nanny for. She’s catching on REALLY quickly. From what Sati tells me she practices constantly, and I’ve taught her about 3 different songs now (one’s she likes to sing with me at the Grove). She loves to sing, she just has to get past the stage fright. Of course, so do I.

It feels good being able to provide something for a teen, that they’re really interested in learning. I can’t provide much in the area of musical theory, but I can teach the basics, which is good enough to make anyone sound like a musician. Now that I’ll have money though, I may actually take some musical theory courses.

Today I’ll probably just do some more catching up on my projects. I did order some childrens books for my sister. About the solstices and equinoxes. Also ordered me an old Boxcar Children book I used to read, that I can share with her, and a book on raising pagan children which is out of print that was recommended on one of the Druid e-lists.

I wish we had a “grove” in San Antonio, I have visted their site often & it is a great church.

    There’s not one in Texas?

Tractor Tires

Dad and I just pushed my 1/2 ton 79 f-150 through the woods and into the backyard to start working on it. We had to get his longbed f-150 to help because with the tires being flat, it’s near impossible to move the damn thing. And I had to steer it with no […]
