Tarot Reading

July 30th 2004

After reading Daisyhead’s site, I decided to try out this online Tarot reading thing. I think I’ll keep what I asked to myself. Not claiming this is accurate or anything, but hell, why not.

Actually the best tarot reading I ever got, was when I worked at the Rock and Gem shop. There was an older lady that came in on Saturday’s to do tarot readings. She looked extremely normal, didn’t dress up in gaudy jewelry or try to look mysterious or whimsical. She looked like someone you’d pass in the grocery store, trying to squeeze tomato’s to make sure they’re good and juicy. She was taught by a gypsy, 40 some years ago.

I had asked her about my ex-husband, mostly. I never told her his name. She pulled a card with a man on it carrying a globe (I forget which one this is). She said he was a traveler, often for months at a time. She called this the Alexander card. And at the time he was still in the Navy, and overseas. She also spoke about the mistrust that was in our relationship, how I had a new love interest, which I did. She was just extremely detailed and accurate in her reading.

Anyway, onto this online reading thing:

Page of Cups
Position: Situation
Main (positional) Meaning:
The lover you desire — or you yourself — may need steadying while going through an awakening.

The card that lands in the Situation position refers to social or circumstantial factors which could be affecting your life at this time.

The Page of Cups (in some decks, a Princess) in this position either represents you or a person you will be involved with, one whose naivete and innocence, while beautiful, may be a danger to themselves. Your task is to help this person to awaken to the full implications of the situation at hand without dashing hopes or demeaning idealism.

Gentle handling may be required as you offer a chance to become more practical and look beyond dreaminess to the reality of the problems to be resolved. Instead of throwing cold water, balance wishful thinking with a healthy dose of pragmatism.

Knight of Cups
Position: Challenges
Main (positional) Meaning:
Your hard-won relationship wisdom can help protect others from their inexperience or foolishness. Be generous with it.

The card that lands in the Challenges position refers to ways that you can turn obstacles into stepping stones.

With the Knight of Cups (in some decks, a Prince) in this position, you may distill the essence of what you have learned on your journey, in order to let your wisdom inform the dreams and aspirations of others. Not everyone is able to go through the kind of awesome transformation you have. But you can wring the essence of your relationship, with all the feelings and insights that came with it, into the grail cup.

Thus collected, you may share this elixir of knowledge with others, as well as apply it to your own future relationship situation. This multiplies the benefits of your quest, and vindicates the difficulty of your labors, by uplifting everyone. In this way you can also relieve some of the loneliness you suffered while undergoing your trials.

King of Swords
Position: Love & Me
Main (positional) Meaning:
Judge well and wisely in matters between you and your possible love interest. You are the one with the final say.

The card in the Love & Me position touches on an aspect of how you perceive yourself with regard to possible intimacy in your life.

The King of Swords in this position stands for fairness and even handed treatment. He settles disputes, assists in the resolution of conflicts and mediates. Bringing analytical and interrogative skills to bear on whatever the current drama may be, the King of Swords is by consent of his community the impartial adjudicator.

Work hard to maintain such a position and reputation. Patient listening and penetrating questions are his signature, and those qualities are just what are presently being asked of you.
