My Son has a nail in his paw

July 31st 2004

Well, looks like My Son has a nail in his paw. It’s pretty deep too, and I don’t have the money for a vet bill. And I can’t take him to my old job, obviously.

My friend Jake (who used to vet tech at the old job too) is coming over to help me out. Hopefully the three of us can do this without a muzzle :P I love my child to death but I’m scared of his pitt biting capacity.

Ouch, that’s no fun. Best of luck removing the nail, and I hope he recovers quickly.

You have a dog you refer to as your child, who has a nail embedded in his paw deep enough for you to not be able to yank it out, and you’re having someone come take it out without anestesia?

I can yank it out, that wasn’t a problem. I invited my friend who used to be a Veterinary Technician (not to mention, so did I), to come over and help me hold him down so I could yank it out, and yes I did yank it out by myself. And yes, if I didn’t have the money, I would do this to myself, for my father, or for any of my children that needed it. I’ve actually stepped on nails and had them removed without anesthesia before, so I don’t quite get what you’re trying to get at.

Not to mention I know for a fact he would not even be put under anesthesia if he went to the vet. They’d do exactly what I did, and fortunately I had the supplies (and the antibiotics) to do it with. Far worse came into the vet when I worked there and wasn’t put under anesthesia.

I love listening to my dad singing to old country music like Conway Twitty when he’s doing dishes or something. It makes me feel like a little girl again.
