Neighbors Chickens and Living Life

October 17th 2004

Apparently something got into one of our neighbors pins and killed every single one of their chickens and ducks last night and just let them lay there. Dad and I will probably go look at some tracks later and see if we can figure out what it is. Only thing I can think of is maybe a skunk or a weasel, HOPEFULLY nothing bigger than that. I’m a little worried about our chickens, but we have a more enclosed cage I think, so we may be alright.

Not much else going on, been busy mostly. Got over a terrible cold, working a lot, getting my shit together. I’m actually doing great, enjoying life, cleaning some parts of it up that I’ve let go over the past few years.

I’m a very lucky person.

Ironic

October 16th 2004

ARIES (Mar 20?Apr 19): Your thoughts and feelings return to the issues about which you often obsess. And there is no escape. You keep coming back to the same basic themes in your life until you figure out a way to bring them into balance. This may not be about anything that can be shared with others. Perhaps it cannot even be put into words. But it’s important nonetheless. Remember, the way out is the way through.

Content

October 14th 2004

I am happy. I am content. Whenever I feel like this, those little financial issues, those Grove squabbles, all of it. They mean nothing. Nothing at all. A lot of things have become quite clear, and it’s time to move in a new direction.

I’m going to start going to the gym again I think. Have to figure out when during my work day I’ll be able to get there, 7am is looking like the only time I’ll have available. Hopefully Sati will go with me, I think it’d be a lot of fun for both of us.

Might say more later.

Minority Groups

October 8th 2004

My friend Kestrel had an interesting episode the other day at her college, which she wrote about here. I wanted to share it because the sentiment behind it is something that means a lot to me. As a young white American, I’m growing sick and tired of the whole concept behind minority groups in general, especially when now I feel as if I’ve become one of the minority and those that claim to be seem to get nothing but special treatment.

I’ve totally understand being proud of your heritage, I am to, but I’ve never agreed with any philosophies behind Black History Month, or allowing scholarships for young Latino’s only instead of basing them off of grade point average and participation. If everyone is so hell bend on race not being an issue and everyone being treated equal, then why aren’t they? Why is race made an issue at all?

And if I offend some people, oh well, I have a right to my opinion.

I also wanted to thank Kestrel for the lovely graphic she made me <3.

The Guys Who Tried to Sue the Dry Cleaners for $54 Million is at it AGAIN

According to The Consumerist:

“According to AP, former Judge Roy “Fancy Pants” Pearson is suing to get his old job back and tacking on $1 million in damages. You may remember Pearson as the judge who tried to sue a dry-cleaner for $54 million over a pair of pants. Now, “Fancy Pants” says he was […]
