Learning Fingerpicking

February 26th 2005

So my teacher taught me about the theory behind fingerpicking, so I’ve been playing with it a bit (read that as: playing religiously), and it’s been a while since I posted any music. So I was playing around a bit and decided to post some of my learnage: Landslide.

(forgive the poor quality recording, haven’t installed everything I use yet)

Horoscope

February 24th 2005

Stolen from Goddessmoon since we are both Aries, and this has an uncanny relation to how I’m feeling today:

ARIES (Mar 20 - Apr 19): Your mind is exploding, but you are able to hide your desires today in a way that is uncharacteristic to you Rams. Of course you may choose to do something about your unexpressed needs once you reach your breaking point. This isn’t about being graceful or tactful. Don’t wait until you boil over. Share your agitation before you melt down.

People are like stained glass windows: they sparkle and shine when the sun’s out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is light within.
Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

The more a man knows, the more he forgives.
Confucius

Often God has to shut a door in our face so that He can subsequently open the door through which He wants us to go.
Catherine Marshall

When we ask for advice, we are usually looking for an accomplice.
Charles Varlet Marquis de La Grange

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things that cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.
Reinhold Niebuhr

Odd..

February 23rd 2005

I haven’t really spoken about Luke, and definitely haven’t spoke -to- Luke since the break up a few weeks ago. But something I did pissed him off enough to go off on me in his journal, and I don’t really know why? I haven’t talked to him, I haven’t posted about him..so what the fuck happened? I figured we just parted ways and that was that.

I never said you treated me like the rest, and never said they treated me half as good as you did, so where the fuck did that come from? And how the hell am I being self-righteous? Hell I never even badmouthed you in my journal, I said I was sick of the shit and that was it. I cared about you too much to sit here and fucking go off on you out of spite.

Grove

February 20th 2005

Went to the Grove for the first time today since Halloween. Everyone welcomed me with open arms and a lot of “I missed you” and “REALLY good to have you back.” It’s like a home away from home.

A lot of new people, a lot of new developments that I think are really good for the Grove. Participated in my first Witan (Board) meeting today as scribe. Everyone says I did a really excellent job. And I had everything prepared so I felt pretty good.

A lot of offerings to go to different conferences for free, which I thought was really sweet. Caryn talked to me about riding up with her to Wellspring this year, and I’m trying to convince Deirdre to go if we maybe rent a motor home or something for the weekend.

The meeting went really well, because all the problem causers weren’t there. Definitely feel energized to work at the Grove again, I just needed a few months to myself and away from all the drama.

Samhain Ritual

I really had the best time I’ve had in a long while at the Samhain Ritual. There were so many people there, and I was able to bring my sister.
I got there early and hung out around the campfire, talked with some friends, messed with my guitar a little, and met a -lot- of […]
