More ulcers at $18 a pill

October 14th 2005

Well.

When dad went to the wound care center last week, he thought they wrapped his leg too tight. But of course, you trust the doctors, you know?

They wrapped it so tight, he has 10…..count ‘em 10 new ulcers on his leg. Malpractice? Perhaps. The infection is now worse, which requires a new medicine to take care of. But this medicine is not covered by his crappy insurance, thus it is $18 a pill. There goes my paycheck this week. In addition, his weekly $30 a week co-pay to visit once a week, is now turned into $60 a week co-pay, to go twice a week to heal the infection.

Now I”ll have to pull money out of savings to get the bronco on the road this week. But it’s alright, I’m still doing great financially. This crap just doesn’t need to happen, you know? So damn frustrating. I’m trying to get ahead, but something keeps pulling me back.

Makes me cry just to type this, worrying about my father this way.
