Sisters
At 12 years old, I was racing go-karts, 4-wheelers, and my snowmobile. I was gone from dawn till dusk out in the woods by the dam, building forts, collecting rocks and feathers, catching animals and bringing them home. I was taking care of my sick grandmother a few times a week, helping feed and water the animals, being chased by wild dogs, and grumpy bulls, shooting BB guns and bows and arrows. I wore a lot of torn jeans, bare feet and mud.
At 12 years old, my sister now has her own cellphone, a french manicure, setting up her voicemail as “Yo, this is so and so..” and chasing after boys. She talks on the phone from dawn till dusk, collects bratz dolls and plays video games. She wears a lot of pink and adidas.
Sometimes it’s weird to think we’re sisters. Perhaps I need to get her out more. I really don’t want her to end up being all materialistic. And that appears to be what is happening.

Sisters need not be identical..
I think a lot of the differences have to do with the generation gap.
I didn’t get a cell phone until I was in my 20’s, and while I like video games.. I didn’t really get into those until I was older. I spent most of my younger years running about outside.. though there are some that whisper of a dusty doll collection in the basement. ~chuckles~
Maybe you could show her things that you did, open her up to the possibilities. She’ll make her own choice, and with you beside her I think she’ll do just fine. =)
