Birthdays, MUDs, and Oceans

January 28th 2006

My sister is having her 12th birthday party today at Ski Liberty in Pennsylvania, but I’m here at work so I wasn’t able to go. She’s being dropped off afterwards to stay the rest of the weekend with me, which is nice because I haven’t seen her since Christmas.

This month actually marks a year since she was paralyzed on her birthday last year. She still has some back pains, but she is still doing gymnastics, and loves showing off her cartwheels.

Tomorrow I will probably take her to the Grove for a Warrior Ritual. And then we’ll probably just hang out at my house, maybe go for a hike with some pictures to follow.

I heard from two separate sources yesterday that I have a small mob of people waiting to play my MUD. Two sources that actually don’t know each other, so I was pleasantly surprised. That combined with the 140 beta applications I’ve had submitted, I should have a fairly decent beta group to get things started. Hopefully they will all stick around while we fix and modify things.

I stayed up till after midnight last night helping Anthony have a smooth transition moving the Oceans Tide website over onto their server. Everything appears to be working swimmingly. Plus it gave me a chance to see the new “Duke” upgrade of Wordpress. Very spiffy, I think I might be brave enough to upgrade to it now.

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
…OR 1 1/4 tsp liquid stevia
1/4 oil

preheat to 350, butter and flour a 9×5 loaf pan (cook 50 minutes) OR use 2 12 count mini muffins tins (cook 10-15 minutes). bread is very dense, only fill muffin tins 2/3 way full.

Snow Lightning Storm

January 24th 2006

We’re having the weirdest weather right now. There is lightning and a deep low thunder, yet it is also snowing with crazy wind.

I’ve never seen such a thing.

God and Goddess

January 24th 2006

Rosefox posted this, and I thought it was pretty:

I asked God and Goddess to take away my pain.
They said, No. It is not for us to take away your pain, but for you to give it up.

I asked God and Goddess to make my handicapped child whole.
They said, No. Her spirit is whole, her body was only temporary.

I asked God and Goddess to grant me patience.
They said, No. Patience is a by product of tribulations; It isn’t granted, it is learned.

I asked God and Goddess to give me happiness
They said, No. We give you blessings. Happiness is up to you.

I asked God and Goddess to spare me pain.
They said, No. Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to Us.

I asked God and Goddess to make my spirit grow.
They said, No. You must grow on your own, but We will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life.
God and Goddess said, No. We will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.

I ask God and Goddess to help me LOVE others, as much as They love me.
They said…Ahhhh, Finally you have the idea.

Valentines and Sleeping Habits

I think the most annoying thing about Valentines Day, is that people get annoyed with it (contradiction..?). Granted I agree it’s just another commercialized holiday, and that if you’re going to do something special with/for someone, it should be all the time, not just one day a year. But I don’t really understand […]
