The Vet, The Grove, and Cancer
I should have known taking My Son to the vet would be a neverending struggle. He’s just too hyper when we have guests in the house, he likes to lick all over them and jump on them for LOVE. Multiply that by 100 due to new pet smells, 2 hospital cats that roam the facility, and people who LOVE to give LOVE to animals who want LOVE, and boy was I exhausted. It wore him out too because he konked out as soon as we got home.
I got 2 of his shots he was due for, and the vet looked over his leg to see if he had a torn ACL (very expensive surgery if so). She couldn’t find anything and said it was most likely just sore from all his hyper activity (running, hurdling, etc). So I’m restricting his activity for about 2 weeks and she gave me an anti-inflammatory called Metacam (Meloxicam) 1.5mg/mL, which is for dogs only. It comes with a syringe based on poundage, and I give him about 60 pounds worth, since that’s about all he weighs.
I also had a heartworm and lymes test performed, both negative, but he sure didn’t want to give blood. I think his legs are little sore now from the amount of wiggling and re-sticking that went on.
In a bit I’ll be leaving an exhausting day of work where I had to clean up two major clusterfucks, and drive down to Baltimore for a budget meeting at the Grove. Everyone seems over-anxious thinking we’re having a witan meeting today, but I highly doubt it will happen. I suspect the budget meeting to last about 2 hours, which would put us about 6:30pm. Our witan meetings generally run 4 hours because people always gotta get their 2 cents in, and there’s no way I’m staying there till 10pm tonight. I’ve got my own shit to do.
I’ll save my thoughts on the current status of the Grove for another post.
A friend from highschool that I was really close to contacted me the other day. We hadn’t hung out in months, I’m pretty bad about keeping in touch with people. Apparently her father has cancer and is dying, the doctors say he doesn’t have much longer to live. Both of her parents were a second set of parents to me, and took a genuine interest in my life. So it’s very sad to see them going through this right now. My friend is taking it pretty hard, and I’ve invited to take her out to lunch later this month to help get her mind off of things.

Its good there is nothing major wrong with your dog! That is always great news. We finally found a place where we can let our shepard play and run and get all muddy. I am sorry about your friend and am glad she has someone to support her. I hope you will be alright with this too. Later.
