Climate Crisis

April 30th 2006

I wanted to share the video trailer of An Inconvenient Truth which is a movie coming out this summer about Global Warming. I actually like all of the documentary style movies that are coming out about what society as a whole seems to be ignorant too (Supersize Me, Raw for 30, etc).

Now whether or not it will encourage people to actually change their method of consumption and everyday life, is yet to be seen.

And don’t post comments about how it’s all a bunch of BS and there’s no threat and all that other crap that I’m sure you’re an expert on. I’m not stupid enough to think that, as gross as humanity is, we aren’t capable of destruction of sickening proportions. It may not be complete and total annihilation, but damn if it doesn’t just fuck some shit up.

Morning Glories

April 28th 2006

I’m not at work yet, I’m doing a 3-7pm shift today for my half-day instead of 9-1pm because the co-worker that despises me and sends all those nasty emails asked me to.

I’m so nice.

Slept in a bit today, did some mending, did some cleaning, enjoyed the beautiful blue sky and sunshine. I amused myself watching My Son jump down and chase the cat out of my room everytime she came in to wake me up. Granted his jumping up and down off my bed kept me awake, but it was a nice gesture on his part.

My sister is being dropped off at my work later tonight, and I’ll bring her to work with me tomorrow and then to the Grove afterwards for their Beltane ritual. Sunday we will probably spend time outside, going for a hike, planting these new blue morning glories I got.

My father got frustrated at our answering machine today. I’m trying to find the instruction booklet for him so he’s not cussing at it when he can’t figure out how to change the message. I could try and sit down to figure it out, but I think it’d be better for him to read the book than for me to try and explain it to him. It’d probably be less insulting that way.

Dream: Snakes

April 28th 2006

This particular dream I believe started out with me visiting Michael at a Three Cranes gathering. I believe it was at his house, and there were a lot of people there visiting (including Dax I think), all of which were having coupled sex in all the bathrooms. Three bathrooms total I believe.

I, of course, had to use the bathroom, and couldn’t. So I went outside to an old shed or tent or something and was about to unpack some things, when there was a tanglement of rattlesnakes in the corner that I didn’t notice right away. 3 of them came after me, and not just as a defensive. The first one attacked my arm pretty raw, to which I hauled ass outta there. Then the 3 proceeded to follow me into the house.

Somehow my dad enters the picture here and helps me try to catch them. I caught two, one in each hand, but the more rabid one was still coming after me, even after I jumped onto a bed. It somehow clamored onto the bed with me. At this point I had to let the two go in my hands to prevent this one from attacking me again, and I grabbed it by the neck, just behind the skull. My dad finds me a meat fork and I plunged it into the neck of the snake and found a hacksaw to chop off its head.

I don’t know what happened to the other two, because I think this is where my cat woke me up. I’m semi-amused though, since I’ve woken up to blacksnakes in the house before, and my cat attacking them and scaring them away.

Electric Fence

April 27th 2006

My father had a dream last night on how to take care of our stalking critter problem. And we’re so gonna do it.

Electric fencing. That’ll teach em.

In other news, I received a receipt for my divorce filing yesterday. They also sent me a form I need to fill out and mail back to them, and then hopefully the divorce proceedings will be final soon.

If I can just get another job (and soon) I should be golden. For now..

Another killing

April 26th 2006

Something killed another one of our turkeys last night. Thankfully not Charlie, but one of our older female turkeys.

Looking at where something was digging in under one of the cages, it doesn’t really look like a fox, I can’t quite tell. It looks like something a dog would do, and my dad said he saw some stray dogs back in the woods a few days ago.

I don’t have a night scope, I could camp out in my blue truck which is back by the goose pen at night, but I’m not sure I’d be able to hit anything in the dark. We have steel traps out, but they haven’t caught anything yet. This is getting quite frustrating.
