Dads Surgery and a Random Love Letter

May 3rd 2006

My father is having his surgery on Friday. This is the same one he was supposed to have in December, right before Christmas, but they decided he needed a stress test for. He had the stress test in January, and here it is May 3rd and they are just now getting around to it. I really don’t trust these doctors.

I told my boss that I don’t know when I’d have to leave to pick him up and take him home, but he seems pretty lenient for me to just leave whenever I need to.

I told my dad that if something goes wrong in this surgery, that I’m going to sue the asses off of these people. He said I better or he’ll haunt me.

No word from that company I applied for. I figured 3 emails and 2 phonecalls I would receive some sort of response on the position. But I have not heard anything at all. It’s pretty disheartening.

I sent out more resumes yesterday.

I forgot to mention about this random letter that showed up in the Grove mail this weekend. Hand delivered as there was no postage marking on it. It was from a young local girl, a 4 page (Front and pack, which would technically be 8 pages) love letter with two photographs of herself. The letter was meant for someone named Nettie, though no Nettie has ever lived in any of the Grove apartments.

It seemed like a very desperate letter (yes I opened it), things like “I’m sorry how I treated you 2 years ago, I think we are soulmates, you were the only guy who ever treated me right.” Which sounds like your typical “I want to get back together” letter. But then it started to get really weird “I’ve been looking for you for 2 years, I’ve walked up and down Edna, Glenmore [insert about 6 more street names here] and I finally found you (which she didn’t because she delivered it to the Grove)” and things like “I know I don’t know your full name. What is your full name? Mine is Anitra [whatever]. What is your brothers name? I want to know the names of your whole family. My brothers name is [whatever], my grandmothers name is [whatever], my aunts name is [whatever].”

It was very Doors sounding, “Hello, I love you, won’t you tell me your name?”

I saw the girl walking up and down the street the day of the Beltane Ritual. She kept looking up at the front porch where Frog and I were sitting, and I guess when she saw a bunch of Druids running around in robes, decided that this miiiiiight be the wrong house. So she came up and asked if we could retrieve her letter. So we returned it, opened, and explained that we weren’t sure if we should contact her at the number she wrote in the letter or not, but that Nettie doesn’t live here. She seemed a bit confused or slow, but grateful and good-humored.

The situation was amusing none-the-less.

That’s a little odd. Poor girl.
