Survival and a lot of pictures

August 26th 2006

My uncles came over to help us kill rabbits. I think we killed about 19 in all. They each took about 10 home, and the rest my dad and I will be freezing.

Being around my uncles though, makes me feel like a little kid. Especially in my family, if you’re female your opinion just doesn’t amount to much. You can’t do things like the men can, you tend to be ignored, etc. But it was always like that growing up on my dads side of the family, so it doesn’t bother me too much. I’ve always felt like I had something to prove to them and my cousins. I had to shoot just as good if not better, I had to ride bikes just as fast if not faster, I had to climb trees higher, etc. It doesn’t amount to anything, but I still felt like I had to try.

It was neat listening to them talk about all their hunting expeditions though. Hunting elk in Montana, taking horses up the mountains. They can afford to do all of that though, my father and I never could. I’d like to someday though.

I took a lot of flower pictures today, and a few of my dad, of my uncles, etc. Putting them behind a cut though because there’s so many. Mostly because I got carried away with the Morning Glories.

Rabbits

August 25th 2006

Two of my uncles are coming over tomorrow (7am ftw), and we’ll be killing some rabbits. My dad and I are starting to have an over abundance, and we’ll be killing several of them for meat to keep over the next few months, and to give some to my uncles for helping out.

I’m pondering getting some pictures of the whole thing, but it might be a bit grotesque.

Star Wars Last Supper

August 24th 2006

So I came into work, and read about a man that gave birth. And it was freaky.

Star Wars Last Supper

And for thunderbird users:
There are some new extensions coming out for Thunderbird (finally). I don’t think I have an avid interest in any of these new ones, but I’m hopefully they will keep coming out with more :)

Donkeys, Vultures, and Turtles, oh my

August 24th 2006

Some interesting things I saw on the way to work today:

- A turtle crossing the road (I shoulda stopped and picked it up but I was late for work)
- Two donkey’s mating
- Numerous vultures resting on the top of their very own telephone poles
- A man at the corner of St. Patrick and East Street in Frederick on his bicycle taking pictures of people in cars. Kinda freaked me out cause he was pointing the camera at me.
- Being whistled at while stopped at a redlight
- A bat that happened into the conference room at work, which we let go outside

I really like working in Frederick. It’s a very historical town, and I always see more young hip folks than older folks. I drive through “shag row” every morning, which has a lot of antique stores, stone and log buildings, places to buy old country items, fabrics/yarns, baskets, and even a place called “Stone Hearth Bakery” which I’m very anxious to try out. It just has a very contemporary yet rustic feel to it in certain spots.

I’ve also noticed on route 75 to route 70 there’s this yellow dodge neon with a large yellow dodge ram sticker on the back windshield that I seem to run into every morning. Sometimes it’s like we are racing to see who can get into Frederick first, or who can get back onto route 75 first in the afternoons. Sometimes she wins, sometimes I win. But we always go to work at the exact same time, and apparently both leave work at 5:30 every day.

I wonder if she realizes the same thing.

The story behind the Mother

August 23rd 2006

Given the recent issues with my mother discovering my rather……detailed online journal, I’ve decided I would now take the time to explain this rather heinous hatred I have towards the woman who supposidly gave birth to me. I expect it to be long, but not necessarily a biography, just random thoughts.
