Chill
There’s something to be said for a nice hot shower with the window open, listening to the rain outside and feeling the chill in the air. I don’t know what it is about fall that makes me (and many others) so excited, but I love it.
Bow season starts tomorrow. My uncle keeps forgetting to bring mine over, and I’d prefer to practice with it some before I take it hunting with me. So this season I will probably stick with the antique 12-gauge shotgun of my grandfathers. I’m not sure when rifle season starts this year yet.
My cherokee classes are going well. The first two were just going over syllabry and proper pronunciation though, which I already knew. I’m anxious for next weeks class because we’ll start getting into the meat of the language. My dad and Mr. Right have been quizzing me, and both seem to take an interest in the language so they are speaking it with me too. Even a co-worker wants me to teach him some words, which will probably help me out as well.
Some interesting things I’ve learned so far about the cherokee language, if you were to say “Yes” it would sound like “Uh uh,” which is “No” in english. Which has to be confusing for any households that speak english and cherokee.
Some basics, since I know Sarah was interested:
osiyo (oh see yo) = Hello
wado (wah doe) = Thanks
osda (oh stah) = Good
dohitsu (doe he chew) = How are you?
Granted those are the phonetic spellings of the words, the actual cherokee language I’d probably have to make images of, since the lettering is quite different ![]()
