Retiring the Mustang

October 19th 2006

So, I love my mustang. I really do. Granted it’s not my 2005 mustang dream car, but I love just having a car that doesn’t break down every 2 weeks. I love only spending $20-$30/week on gas rather than $80-$100 like I was doing in my broncos. And though I intend to keep the broncos, I am thinking of trading in my mustang for something more “functional”.

I haul a lot of stuff, instruments, wood, camping gear, etc. And I want something that, despite not being a true off-road vehicle, will be able to hold its own in the snow. I’m not looking for something to replace the power behind my bronco, just something for day-to-day functionality with the added bonus of partial “work truck” features.

Here enters, my current favorite, the Jeep Liberty:

Corporate Holidays

October 19th 2006

Why am I seeing Santa on morning shows (I don’t watch, but my dad does) and commercials about Christmas and sales already? Why have I been seeing these things for the last 3 weeks?

It’s not even Halloween yet! Take one holiday at a time! Damn!

All Hail the Gods of Healing and Oxygen

October 18th 2006

So my prediction about the timing for the ulcer healing on my dads leg was slightly off, because apparently during his hyperbaric appointment today, they told him it was completely healed :)

He’s still going to finish out the hyperbaric treatments, and he’s still at risk for an ulcer coming back, but for now it’s healed.

You don’t know how good it is to be able to say that.

I’m going to see if I can get the nurses to send us copies of the pictures they took of his leg. I have pictures here, but they are somewhat grainy.

Now to pay off all these medical bills.

20th Anniversary of Nintendo

October 18th 2006

According to this article, today is the 20th Anniversary of the original Nintendo Entertainment System released in the United States. And boy what a ride it’s been.

NintendoI was an Atari addict at a young age, Space Invaders, Pitfall, I even had the E.T. game for Atari 2600. But when Nintendo came out, I was 6, and lucky enough to be the first in the family to have one. My cousin Jon and I would play religiously, especially Street Fighter II, where he’d always kick my ass.

However, the all-time best game on any Nintendo platform is Zelda. It doesn’t matter what version, NES, SNES, N64, I played and loved them all. I think to celebrate, I might break out the NES and Zelda later tonight.
