The Weekend with some Holiday Spirit

December 3rd 2006

I went back out yesterday afternoon for another hunt. I saw the red fox again, and shot at a doe around dusk, but it was so dark I’m not surprised I missed.

Spent some time at the Grove today, which always feels good.

Came home to do some stuff around the house, dad is getting all the lights up (should take pictures once we’re done). Dad was commenting about how he wasn’t going to send christmas cards this year because he can’t afford to. My father sends them out every year, and sometimes is the only way we keep in contact with distant cousins and such. And I know it’s a tradition he enjoys, as well as receiving cards from all the relatives. So I went ahead and purchased them for him. I’ll also be giving him a couple hundred to do some shopping that he wants to do, which will put me on a tight budget, but that’s usual this time of year.

We spent most of the evening curled up by the woodstove watching old classic christmas episodes of Andy Griffith, The Jeffersons, and Little House on the Prairie. My dad still tears up watching the old classics, so it’s something I enjoy doing with him. Sometimes we share old stories of when he was growing up or when I was little, and we light the old oil lamps and sit around listening to christmas carols.

Here’s some of our Christmas pictures from last year.
