Year 2006 in Review

December 8th 2006

I figured I’d do the usual meme posting the first line of each month for this year, but also add my own notations for that month. This year was such a wonderful year for me, the new car, the new job, the launching of my MUD, and I am still madly in love.

January: January 2nd, 2006 “A good three day weekend to reflect.”
January started the first year of my life that has been the most positive and influential of my entire life thus far. The steady incline after so many years of declines. In January, after so many months of struggling, turn downs, and disappointment, I bought my very first car. I was scared to death. Scared that I just put myself in financial ruin, scared that I wouldn’t be able to keep taking care of my fathers medical bills, scared that I’d have to turn the mustang back in.

January was also the month that someone I considered a close friend at work, broke my heart unknowingly. While working on my bosses computer, I unfortunately took a gander at her open email, and saw some horrid and hate-filled emails to my boss from my co-worker about me. I was not only in shock, because we got along so well, but I was pissed off. The seed was now planted that over the next few months would grow quite fruitfully.

February: February 1st, 2006 “Woke up this morning with no gas”
For the first time in over 10 years, I was forced to go to the doctor. For the first time in my life, the flu beat my ass so bad that I was literally bed-ridden, with no voice, for the majority of February. I had never been that sick before in my life. As such, February started my vigorous vitamin and natural living campaign. Though I had been changing my lifestyle for such for quite a while before that, I was even more fueled to get my body back into shape and boost my immune system.

In February, my mothers recent custody proposal was also thrown out due to repetitive rescheduling on her part. And in February, we had to put down one of our dogs.

March: March 1st, 2006 “I got My Son a new gold plated dog tag, but on the back I put “Lover not a fighter.”
March started my divorce process. After several years of being in limbo, I decided to order divorce papers from LegalZoom and do the divorce myself.

I also started looking for another job, as the issue with my co-worker at Terminix became only more of a festering wound. That and I couldn’t help myself hacking into her email account every once in a while.

And lest we not forget, March is the month that houses my sweethearts birthday.

April: April 1st, 2006 “I’ve been using Jason’s Natural Damage Control shampoo (70% organic) for about 2 weeks.”
April was a whirlwind of chaos. My birthday, the ADF Trillium Festival (to which I had a fantastic time), my boss up and leaving Terminix in the middle of the night without a word, an employee doing the same thing a week later. I also discovered two red-tailed hawks nesting above my sacred space.

The most significant notation about April, was the first interview at my current job. I fell in love with the place at first glance, and the wait to hear back from them was excruciating.

May: May 1st, 2006 “I can’t say I have a problem with immigrants, since most of us are immigrants.”
After a month of torturous waiting, I was finally called about a second interview at my job, and was hired! I cried. And now, 7 months later, I am so completely happy and thrilled with my job still.

My father had his surgery to put a new vein in his leg, which was very scary for me. Seeing him in such a weakened state forced me to use all of my might not to cry when visiting him in the hospital.

I started getting offers from local music folk about playing local music venues. I also have the divorce hearing to determine all the details needed to submit to the judge to finalize my divorce.

June: June 1st, 2006 “I was given a 6 piece assignment today, since I finished the other assignment yesterday.”
I spent most of the month of June getting used to my new job.
My father found out his red blood count was low, which had me a little concerned.
My cousin Steph visited me from Germany.
We had a fabulous midsummer ritual out in the rain at the Grove.
A friend of my threatened to commit suicide, luckily he is okay.
My best friend Jake’s wife left him.
I also found out my mother had lost her job and was going back to school to get a degree in law.

July: July 1st, 2006 “So this has happened to me on occasion, all of a sudden my explorer.exe file crashes.”
I found out Michael married his ex.
Divorce is finalized!
I created a music myspace account and received a lot of fanmail
My cousin Bryan replaced all of our old disgusting fire-hazard breakers in the house.
I pledged money to the Wolf Sanctuary in North Carolina.
Dad cut his hand really bad.

August: August 1st, 2006 “I thought I had posted about this owl once before, but I couldn’t find the entry.”
My father and I caught a Great Horned Owl that was after our chickens. I took this as a sign.
I suspected that my mother found my domain, so I bought a new one and wrote out the entire story behind my mother.

September: September 1st, 2006 “I admit that I don’t always understand my mothers method of thinking.”
I won $50 off of Blingo
I got into an argument with a Grove member which led to a rather nasty email that I decided not to reply to.
I started taking Cherokee I classes
The drama concerning my sister and myspace blew up to ridiculous proportions, forcing my mother to threaten to sue me for slander, to which I said “stfu.”
I went on a work sponsored cruise with my father on the Severn river. We had such a glorious time with catered food and an open bar and great people.
Kirk Cameron from “Growing Pains” and his fundamental Christian Group attend one of ADF’s druid rituals and creates a podcast bashing pagans.
I start thinking about buying the duplex across the street and renting out both sides.

October: October 1st, 2006 “So I finally decided to write down my thoughts on The Druid Podcast that I posted about earlier.”
For the first time, my bronco passes emissions
I took my sister to dinner to heal the recent bad blood between us
My MUD opened its doors to alpha testing! And has been going strong ever since!
I learn an incredible amount about CSS and Web Development in General
My dads leg completely heals due to his hyperbaric chamber treatments!

November: November 1st, 2006 “I’m overwhelmed with unfinished energy right now, and it’s really dragging me down.”
I received an apology letter from my co-worker at Terminix for how she treated me.
The foxes killed all of our ducks.
We killed some meat rabbits to help save money on feed costs.
I went camping with some family on the coldest weekend of the year.
I started a petition to save Charlie the Turkey (and won!), who is now living with my father and I.
My hair has grown amazingly more healthy after my decision to not dye it anymore in August of 2005.
I took my father and my friends out to Sakura Japanese Steakhouse for a divine dinner.
My cat Jakey-Mau had run away, but returned.
I went up to my uncles to kill our thanksgiving turkey (which was delicious)
For the first time since I was in single digits, my fathers side of the family got together for the holidays
Rifle season started, and I had the recoil bruises to prove it.

December: December 2nd, 2006 “It must already get darker a lot later than last week. “
(written post December) - December was much of a blur. Normal hectic holiday chaos which was easily subdued when I fell sick shortly after Christmas. So sick that I was unable to sleep more than an hour a day. The lack of sleep started to play on my mental state and eventually broke me to tears one night, but I survived.
Otherwise, uneventful.
