More Free Music

December 13th 2006

[Download] (about 47megs)
Artist: Coyote Oldman
Album: Compassion
About: This is more of an ambient Native American flute album, definitely not your typical Native music. It’s very low-key and great for mediating. Some songs have very mysterious but lovely vocals, some are played with many types of flutes (precolumbian clay flutes, bass plains flute, panpipes etc). It almost reminds me of music that you would think to find in the movie “Legend”.

Year 2006 in Review

December 8th 2006

I figured I’d do the usual meme posting the first line of each month for this year, but also add my own notations for that month. This year was such a wonderful year for me, the new car, the new job, the launching of my MUD, and I am still madly in love.

Free Music

December 6th 2006

When Alex and I were married, we probably had 500 CD’s between us. Now that we’re split, I imagine it split almost evenly in half. So I have quite a bit of music I’m going through and ripping into .mp3 format. And I’ll probably share a lot of it :)

Anyway, right now I have an album that was a free demo when I worked at the metaphysical shop some odd 6 years ago. I really liked it even though the boss wanted to throw it out, and most of you know how much I love tribal drumming in general.

It’s rhythm album, experimental tribal drumming type stuff with some flutes, and even one that sounds as if there are vocals from Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares, which I’ve loved since highschool when I heard them on the Xena soundtrack. (And I do have some mp3’s and an album of theirs as well if anyone wants it ripped).

So if you’re interested, you can download from here:

[Download] (about 39megs, it’s the entire album)
Artist: Greg Ellis
Album: Kala Rupa
From the Sleeve: Kala Rupa literally means “time form”. Kala is the Hindi word for time, or a conceptualunit of time, and rupa means form.

The Weekend with some Holiday Spirit

December 3rd 2006

I went back out yesterday afternoon for another hunt. I saw the red fox again, and shot at a doe around dusk, but it was so dark I’m not surprised I missed.

Spent some time at the Grove today, which always feels good.

Came home to do some stuff around the house, dad is getting all the lights up (should take pictures once we’re done). Dad was commenting about how he wasn’t going to send christmas cards this year because he can’t afford to. My father sends them out every year, and sometimes is the only way we keep in contact with distant cousins and such. And I know it’s a tradition he enjoys, as well as receiving cards from all the relatives. So I went ahead and purchased them for him. I’ll also be giving him a couple hundred to do some shopping that he wants to do, which will put me on a tight budget, but that’s usual this time of year.

We spent most of the evening curled up by the woodstove watching old classic christmas episodes of Andy Griffith, The Jeffersons, and Little House on the Prairie. My dad still tears up watching the old classics, so it’s something I enjoy doing with him. Sometimes we share old stories of when he was growing up or when I was little, and we light the old oil lamps and sit around listening to christmas carols.

Here’s some of our Christmas pictures from last year.
