Oops, free product: What would YOU do?
Think of this as purely hypothetical (though the situation itself isn’t).
If you ordered a product from a large name company (lets say Microsoft just for the example, maybe even Windows Vista), and not only did you receive the product, but you recieved two by accident. And the second one is an expensive and upgraded version than the one you originally ordered.
Would you send the second one back? Would you keep it and save the lesser version as a backup? Would you give it away?
And for the ADFers, do you feel that keeping this product is a negotiation of the Integrity virtue?
I’d like honest thoughts, please.
And as a side note, if it were money, especially an individual’s money, I’d definitely return it. But the specific point here is a product from a large conglomerate.

I would go with keep it. Its not -your- fault that someone else messed up (speaking hypothetically of course). It is in fact, a large company, and I doubt they are scrambling to find a missing copy of Vista (upgraded as it may be). Microsoft, in general, makes too much money anyway… it would probably be MORE expensive for them to pay for the shipping back than for you to keep it.
Consider it kinda like karma… I am sure you’ve done something nice for someone, perhaps this is your repayment

Perhaps
Though it’s not Vista, I was just using that as an example.
I’m surprised at the reaction I’ve gotten from the three different places I’ve posted this to. Myspace and Tawodi have all said to keep it. Livejournal on the other hand, those folks are ADAMANT about returning it or I am morally wrong and my integrity is compromised.
It shows a lot about each of the blogging communities.

To be honest, it’s hard to say. If a small business had made a mistake like that then I’d definitely return it. But a huge corporation that rips me off all the time? Tough call!
