Yesterday my Grove celebrated its Samhain High Rite. I had more of a role in this Rite than I’ve had in the past. I’ve been trying to build up more experience in ritual, mainly with smaller parts until I’m confident enough to do more.
This ritual we called Dagda and Danu, with the Morrigan as the gatekeeper. It was an interesting twist, as we did the triple aspect of the Morrigan, and I was one of the three calling her.
We based the prayer off of the last ritual, which was the basis of “you are your own spiritual obstacle”, so our prayer for this Rite was to remove the obstacles of our own creation, so we can grow spiritually.
The omen was good, but not unexpected. Caryn read the Ogham, and we’re finally able to get someone to help keep track of omens for a change. The omen was that we are the only ones that can rid of our obstacles, no one else is going to do it for us.
I also offered some tobacco and mishma to the well to honor my ancestors, especially the ones I was able to learn about as of late. Most especially my Cherokee grandmother and my great great grandfather from Germany.
I was also presented with my dedicant ribbons during ritual, to symbolize the completion of my dedicants program (technically it was complete in the first half of September, but still). I’m glad that the Grove does small things like this to commemorate events like dedicant program completions, beads for high rite attendance, etc. I’d like to do more “rites of passage” type parts in ritual for our new members and such, as I think they are important. It’s important to me to commemorate important events and accomplishments.
We also opened up nominations for elections this December. I’ve been preparing all of the information for a while now, and am trying to keep things as simple and organized as possible. So far so good. I’m not sure what/if I’ll be elected to set on the board again this year, but I certainly wish everyone luck, and think some new blood on the Witan is definitely needed.

nspeaks.com is holding a contest to win $100. Actually it’s split into two contests, the first for $50 by linking two his blog and his contest post. The second $50 is won by subscribing to his feed via RSS reader or by email.
So I’ve done both in hopes of winning a little extra cash
Feel free to stop by and enter your own chance to win. I don’t know much about the blog, but it looks to be a blog of many about blogging. Though the author is from India, so reading about a perspective from another country is always interesting.

Dads wrist has been hurting him the past 3 months or so. Sharp pains here and there. We were finally able to get enough money to take him to the doctor (and you’d think since he pays $550 a month in health insurance that it would actually do something, but it doesn’t), and […]
