First time to the Dentist in…how long?

June 2nd 2008

I had my first dentist appointment in 10 years this morning. It was much like I expected it to be, though I wasn’t expecting to have a filling done right away, I figured I’d have to make a separate appointment for that. So that was pretty convenient.

They have these new things now (new as in, I don’t think they had them 10 years ago) where they can put in white resin fillings instead of the crappy mercury/silver ones that are noticeable. They asked me which I wanted (wtf, who would choose the crappy silver ones?), and the white resin looks pretty swank and natural. I imagine it doesn’t hold up as well as the metal(?) but I haven’t researched that part yet.

I do have other fillings I’d like to have redone in the white resin, since from what I’ve googled, they seem to be the more “healthier” choice (as far as, lack of Mercury). Of course it would cost some money to have this done, but if it means getting metal out of my mouth, then I honestly feel it’s worth the price. Again having the HSA really helps in situations like these.

My face was still numb until about 20 minutes ago, and I felt like I was talking like Rocky Balboa. Actually they had to give me two doses of Novocaine because once they started drilling after the first dose, I could start to feel the drill pain.

Paybacks have started and a new garden

I’ve paid back two four people who loaned us money for the house, which is the start of my payback sessions. I’m doing all of the smaller balances first (I assume those people may be having tighter times), and working my way up to the larger ones over the next several months. Two […]
