Even Ground?
My realtor called me earlier to say that the people for the estate of the house we are buying had come back with a counter offer and that he would get the information from them tomorrow.
However he said that he already knows what they are doing (I guess he spoke with their lawyer) and they are dropping from $169k to $161k and paying all $9k of closing costs. The lender that I’ve been favoring, who also does a lot of business with my realtor, has also dropped my interest rate to 6.0% from 6.5%, which puts the mortgage for $161 just in our range. So we are probably going to take the bid. I’m going to sit down with my realtor and go over the numbers one more time, but I think we have the house.
Pretty scary and exciting all at the same time
Actually I wouldn’t be scared at all if I didn’t have a car payment as well, once that’s gone it won’t be such a hassle at all.
Right now I’m about 90% sure we have the house.
In other news, I believe the lot is actually two lots, by the way the parcel map looks. It says in the description for the property that it includes lot #1 and lot #2. I assume that means we can subdivide if we decide to later, which we probably won’t but you never can tell. It also means that our property is probably a lot bigger than we originally thought. At least another lots worth anyway.
Oh, and it’s in Gettysburg, but it’s east of Gettysburg, so still slightly closer to the Grove as well as work. It’ll be a lot further away from my Grove friends though, but what can you do. We’re getting a good deal on this house because it’s in decent shape, has two lots and a good chunk of land, and it’s an estate sale.
So long as everything holds out and the inspections and all pass, we look to move in October 1st.
