Installed some new updates

January 19th 2007

I’ve installed some new plugins concerning comments. Brian’s Threaded Comments allows my comments to be threaded, rather than all over the place in replies.

Folks can now subscribe to comments if the particular topic interests them and they want to know what other people have to say.

And I’m also going to start displaying top commenters for the month on the left (to be tweaked I’m sure), which will never be very big because no one ever comments :) Which is fine, I use this as a tool for myself more than anything. It’s like my daily organizer and reminder.

Upgrade to Wordpress 2.0.7

January 18th 2007

Several big name bloggers got hit with a SEO hacker who used a Wordpress admin exploit. Apparently they had something to prove.

The recent Wordpress 2.0.7 release addresses this issue, so it’s highly recommended you upgrade ASAP.

Of course when you run 11+ different sites with Wordpress, that gets a bit tedious, but at least they are all protected now. Fortunately the upgrade is simple, simply replacing everything except the wp-content and config.php file, and go to yourdomain.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php and you’re done. Though it’s a good idea to backup your files before you upload the new ones.

HAM

January 16th 2007

My computer fried this weekend. It’s still barely chugging along, but I have a new motherboard, CPU, and video card on the way. So it’ll sorta be like a brand new computer.

This has put my online projects slightly on hold. I can’t even balance my checkbook at home, I have to do it at work. But I was able to back everything up on my external hard drive, so I won’t be losing anything if my hard drive crashes. I just pray that it doesn’t :x.

New parts should be in Wednesday.

I’ve also decided I want to become a licensed HAM operator.

Nuclear Missile Desktops

January 12th 2007

I ran across this image of some missiles hitting the water at over 4,000 MPH. I made myself a dual screen desktop of it at work, and a 1024.768 desktop for anyone else.

Updating

January 1st 2007

Still going through things for the new layout. Might take me a bit as time allows.

It looks like the site works in all browsers, including Safari, but in IE6 the left column boxes flicker a bit, not sure why. Works in IE7 though.

Space Desktop

November 2nd 2006

There is a space portrait as Wikipedia’s image of the day today. Taken in 1968 by the Apollo 8 crew. I liked it so much I made myself a dual screen version for my work computer, and a 1024×768 version for anyone that wants to use it.

Upgrade

July 4th 2006

I upgraded my Wordpress today, and I am currently working on a new layout (It’s been a year this July). So things might look a little funky until I am finished.

In the mean time, you can enjoy a recent picture of my son (you can’t tell me he isn’t fuckin spoiled):

Graduation and Change

One of my fathers ulcers looks slightly bigger. And I noticed some fresh minor wounds around the other ulcer. I think he wrapped his leg too tight the other day while I was on vacation (hence why I bandage them) and that might be what caused it.
They gave him this special gauze called […]
